For more than 30 years, Cheri Taylor has faithfully followed the path that God has set for her in ministry. Blessed with a dynamic singing voice and an exciting stage presence, Cheri delights in a gospel music thrust at concerts and special events to present the Word of God to her audience. Before becoming a solo performer and recording artist, she traveled with a local gospel group in her home area of Lamar, Indiana.
As a soloist, Cheri has won three gospel talent searches and has had considerable national radio airplay with her music. Her latest recording project, Blessed, is a collection of songs ranging from the beautifully arranged “I Bowed on My Knees and Cried Holy” to the bouncy, exciting “Singing with the Saints.” Familiar songs from the hymnal are here along with brand new music from some of today’s most talented writers.
Since 1998, Cheri has also become well-known speaker as a on a wide range of Christian topics for conferences, retreats and seminars. She is a member of the Conference of Southern Baptist Evangelists, and is endorsed by the North American Mission Board.
When Cheri is not actively engaged in her ministry efforts, she is actively involved in the working of her local church. Her husband, Greg, works along side of her in every phase of her ministry, whether at home or on the road. “Greg has been so supportive of me,” Cheri said. “Even through times of discouragement, he has been there, cheering me on.”
Cheri and Greg have two children, Heather and Philip, and a delightful granddaughter, Ryan Kinsley. “Heather and Philip are really blessings to me. They are both beautiful and talented, and I’m always anticipating how the Lord will use them for His glory,” said Cheri. “Ryan Kinsley, our first grandchild, is my beautiful princess!”
For the past few years, Cheri has been a part of a mission team that goes each year to minister in Jamaica. “The people there are so warm and welcoming to our team,” Cheri said. “It is hard to see the poverty and need there, but at the same time, I’m so grateful for the opportunity that God has given me to make a difference in the lives of these precious people.” God is also opening doors for her in Eastern Europe as well as areas of the United States that are new for her ministry.
